Description:
In 1916, the Association, then known as the Westchester County Golf Association, held its first Amateur Championship when it initiated organized golf tournaments in our area on a countywide basis. A constitution was adopted in 1926 to provide a means for handling formally the affairs of the Association. In 1979, after clubs in adjacent counties had become members, the name was changed to the Westchester Golf Association. The Association includes clubs in Fairfield (CT), Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester Counties in the States of New York and Connecticut.
The Association consists of 79 member clubs representing some 30,000 households. During each golfing season 23 tournament days are organized and directed by the Association through the cooperation and courtesy of our member clubs. The WGA activities are coordinated with the many other golf organizations in the area.
