The purpose of the VGA is to act as the authoritative body for golf in the state of Vermont; to hold such tournaments as may be arranged; to adopt, enforce and interpret the rules of golf in accordance with the rules adopted by the U.S.G.A.; to establish, maintain, control and regulate a handicap system and course rating for member clubs (all handicap competition under the jurisdiction of the VGA shall be conducted under such system); to offer member clubs counsel by providing the means for the interchange of information and concepts pertaining to overall club management, operation and facilities.
