Croara Country Club is found on Emilia's north-western border, a few kilometres from Piacenza, in a hilly area that is positively influenced by Liguria's weather. The course's particularly favourable location, halfway between the Trebbia River alluvial deposits and the foothills of the Apennines, offers a variety of views and game opportunities. You'll find 18 highly technical holes, with fairly narrow fairways, surrounded by oaks, chestnuts, poplars, and locust-trees, and fascinating scenery along the riverbanks. The course has already hosted a top-notch international event, the first Italian Women's Open.
TECHNICAL DATA: 18 holes, par 72, 6,065 metres, the first 9 holes designed by Buratti and inaugurated in 1975, the rest designed by Croze and Lo Casio and inaugurated in 1983.
FACILITIES: driving range, pitching green, putting green, bar, restaurant, swimming pool, tennis, pro-shop, golf carts, club and trolley hire, instructors available, car park, locker rooms, TV lounge.
SEASON: Closed Tuesdays (except bank holidays) and from January 7th to February 7th.
HOW TO GET THERE: From the motorways: exit at Piacenza Sud junction. After the junctions, turn immediately right and take the ring-road towards the stadium (stadio). Continue as far as the roundabout for Genoa – Bobbio – Rivergaro (SS45) then follow signs for Rivergaro. Turn right 500 metres after the town (sign Rivalta – Croara) then follow signs for the golf club, which is 6 km from Rivergaro.
NEARBY: Piacenza (15 km), Parma (40 km), Milan (50 km), Milan airport (70 km), Bologna airport (140 km).
NOT TO BE MISSED: The medieval village and castle of Rivalta, 2 km before Croara. Statto, Rezzanello and Agazzano Castles and many others nearby. For horse riding lovers, the golf club is next to Croara Vecchia riding stables, which has a cross-country field and pleasant guest suites that are also open to golfers.
